The essential 3D printing filament
PLA, aka Polylactic Acid, is a multipurpose material commonly used in 3D printing. PLA is a bioplastic, which means it is made from renewable natural resources such as corn starch and tapioca products. As a biodegradable material, it is much better for the environment, especially compared to petrochemical-based alternatives (such as ABS). PLA is a very popular 3D printing material because it extrudes at a lower temperature than many other filaments and has excellent bed adhesion with a very low tenancy to warp. These factors make PLA a very easy material to print with, and as such is a community favorite for prototyping and finished parts alike.
